Industrial Synthetic Fuel Plant Proposed

A vast industrial synthetic fuel plant is proposed on productive Dorset farmland at Rudge Hill Farm near Sturminster Newton – right beside a Grade II listed farmhouse and near numerous nationally important and scheduled monuments, including Banbury Iron Age Hillfort, and close to some of our much-loved footpaths and bridleways.

This isn’t just “a few solar panels”: it’s 72 acres of shipping containers, gas domes, fencing, and pipelines in a tranquil rural valley. It will dwarf Broad Oak village and its rural outlook, creating constant noise.

The council itself admits it could cause serious harm to landscape,
wildlife, heritage and flood risk – and needs a full Environmental Impact Assessment. Water demand, hazardous by-products, noise, the potential for a gas explosion and HGV traffic have barely been addressed. This is industrialisation of the countryside and loss of land that feeds us all.

For those who depend on tourism, people come to see Dorset’s unspoilt rural beauty – they won’t come to visit a Dorset covered in concrete and containers.

Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Speak up before Dorset loses more of its rural heart.
